In Luke 5:8, after Jesus fills his boat with fish, Peter quotes Isaiah 6:5 to express a seminal point in his spiritual transformation.

"Now when Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, 'Lord, go from me. For I am a sinful man.'" ~Luke 5:8 (RGT)

It's seminal because it is an expression of selfless humility rather than self-righteous zeal in response to Jesus' power. This is something Peter continued to struggle with right up until Pentecost (Mark 14:29-30, Matthew 16:22-23, John 18:10-11) as do all of us, especially these days.

But Jesus' Spirit eventually won out with Simon Peter. And He can do the same in us today.

Today, be Peter AFTER Jesus, not before Jesus.

"But above all things, have fervent love among you. For love shall cover a multitude of sins." ~1Peter 4:8 (RGT)
