Geneva Audio Bible Revised for This Generation

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Best-selling faith-based voice actor updates popular 16th Century Bible for a modern audience.

Johns Creek, Georgia (June 7, 2021) – Steve Cook, #1 Amazon Best-Selling Audiobook Narrator, actor, and creator of the highly interactive Bible Study tools Witness The Bible and Memo Devo: Memorization as Devotion (both featured on Bible Gateway and elsewhere), has released New Testament: From The Revised Geneva Translation, a faithful 21st Century update of the first widely-distributed Bible in English, The Geneva Bible of the 1500’s

“This audio Bible has been long overdue for quite some time,” says Cook. “With the popularity of the New King James Version, I was actually a bit surprised when I learned that the Geneva Bible had never been updated in audio format. It contains such beautiful language and employs manuscripts that have been used by the Church since its beginning.”

Most modern Bibles (including the NIV, NASB, NLT, and ESV) are based on manuscripts which were largely unused by the Church until the mid-1800’s. Those manuscripts exclude such passages as Mark 16:9-20 and John 7:53-8:11 (The Woman Caught in Adultery) in addition to hundreds of other undocumented omissions and variations from the Received Text.

But the RGT is not merely another NKJV. It contains many unique renderings based on careful research. Here are just a few:

“And lead us not into trial. But deliver us from the evil one.” ~ Matthew 6:13a

“Glory to God in the High Heaven! Peace on Earth, and to man, according to His good pleasure!” ~ Luke 2:14

“This was He of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me, is in front of me. For He was before me.’” ~ John 1:15b

“Men of Athens! I perceive that in all things you are very fearful of gods.” ~ Acts 17:22b

“I have strength for all things through Christ Who empowers me.” ~ Philippians 4:13

The Revised Geneva Translation not only preserves the text of the Geneva Bible, but the poetry as well, while eliminating confusing 16th century words and punctuation. It also preserves the Geneva’s pioneering versification (i.e. beginning every verse on a new line - which aids tremendously in memorization).

“We pray the RGT will be a truly living and active Bible for this generation,” says Cook.

In addition to his seven #1 Amazon Best-Sellers, Steve Cook’s audiobook credits include Tom Sawyer: A One-Hour Classic, a one-man 32-voice dramatization of A Christmas Carol, and Ken Ham's Ready to Return.
